Selection for hire is made from those individuals who come by after the opening becomes available. Applicant(s) is (are) made a conditional offer of employment until the position(s) is (are) filled. If no applicants come by after the position becomes available, Amber uses its sign-in log as a secondary-hiring source. Thus, when Amber has an entry level helper opening, Amber offers a job to an eligible applicant (1) on a first come first serve basis, as described above. If no one is available, Amber then (2) looks at the sign-in log, beginning with the most recent name, starting at the bottom of the log. If no one is available and eligible for hire using those basis, Amber then (3) uses its current applications as a source for hiring. Amber does not interview applicants for entry-level helper positions.

Applicants can request to take a skills test which could make them eligible for a higher rate of pay, if there are any higher paying positions available. Also, at any time during employment at Amber, employees may request to take the skill test to show they are acquiring the necessary skills for a higher rate of pay. NCCER Certified Plus in addition to the in-house skills test is required for top level pay.
Amber, L.P. feels by investing in the education of its employee(s) it will create an injury free work environment where facilities and projects are free of recognized hazards; and people, equipment and the environment are not placed at risk of injury or damage.
The starting rate of pay for an entry-level helper position is determined by the job location the individual is hired for. Entry level and helper/apprentice positions are evaluated every quarter (March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31). To be eligible for evaluation, an employee must have worked at least the last two months of the Quarter. If the job location you are hired for requires a higher starting rate than Amber’s normal starting base rate of $15.00 per hour, you will not receive a raise until the time you would have reached the higher rate under Amber’s quarterly evaluation process. For example, Amber’s normal quarterly raise is $ 1.00 per hour for helper/apprentice positions. Amber, L.P. will evaluate each Helper/Apprentice/Lower Level Journeyman each quarter for eligibility of a $1.00 per hour raise. There are five ways an employee may be denied a raise. First, if an employee is not enrolled in the NCCER Program with passing grades. Second, if an employee has a write-up or warning for a Safety/Quality infraction. Third, if an employee causes Equipment/Property damage in that quarter. Fourth, if an employee’s Supervisor denies the raise for lack of production. Fifth, if an employee has three or more write-ups/warnings for unexcused absence in a quarter.
Raises are not automatic. Amber, L.P. Supervision will evaluate you for punctuality, having or acquiring the proper tools, learning the trade, actively involved in the education program, general workmanship and the ability to get along with your fellow workers. Amber, L.P. Supervision will grade you.
While employed at Amber, it is not uncommon to be transferred from one job location to another. Due to different pay rate schedules at the various job locations, you may have a pay rate decrease or pay rate increase if you are transferred. You also will have to attend schools as required by Amber to be considered for a raise.
